Montoya: Bridgestone Have the Edge over Michelin

Colombian hotshot Juan Pablo Montoya believes his Williams team's tyre suppliers Michelin still have some work to do if they are to regularly beat rivals Bridgestone.

Colombian hotshot Juan Pablo Montoya believes his Williams team's tyre suppliers Michelin still have some work to do if they are to regularly beat rivals Bridgestone.

French manufacturer Michelin has made a dramatic return to the sport this year, taking three race victories through Williams driver Ralf Schumacher, but Montoya still wants more.

"I think Bridgestone have still got a bit of an advantage on us at the moment," said Montoya. "Especially in the wet conditions, but we will pick it up. The Michelins are getting better."

Montoya has been unlucky during the season and has often lost the chances of victory through car failure after running at the front. But he still insists the team are doing the best they can and says that he still refuses to think of victory until he is finally the first past the chequered flag.

"The team are doing a good job," he said. "But I don't think about winning or doing well because if you go in thinking it is going to be a good weekend and it is going to be a big disappointment.

"It is better to just get on with it and work as hard as you can, and then when you get the chance, you take it. That is what I have done. I have worked as hard as I could on every weekend at every race."

Montoya has three races left if he is to take his first Grand Prix victory in his debut season, but the tracks should suit his Williams car and that could give him a good chance of victory.
