Monteiro tests new Jordan
New Formula 1 signing Tiago Monteiro battled through the fog at Silverstone to give his new Jordan its first shakedown on Monday, ahead of a more serious testing programme later this week
The car, which is a development version of last year's EJ14, has been modified to fit the Toyota engines with which the team will be powered with in 2005. The most obvious area of difference from the 2004 machine is the wing that is fitted right in front of the sidepods - an innovation that was tested towards the end of last year.
Despite the takeover of the team by the ambitious Midland company, the outfit is setting itself fairly modest targets for this year.
Team principal Colin Kolles said recently: "We want to achieve constant improvements over the course of the season as we learn more about the interaction between the new engine and the chassis, as there was very little time for testing. We want to drive into the points now and then - and to beat Red Bull."
The shakedown of the car will continue at Silverstone on Tuesday, before the car is checked over at the factory and the proper testing programme begins on Wednesday.
