Monteiro happy with shakedown
Tiago Monteiro began his career as a Jordan Formula 1 driver by shaking down the team's 2005 car at Silverstone on Monday, and declared himself delighted with his first day's work
The Portugeese ex-Champ Car racer was unable to take to the track in the first Jordan-Toyota EJ15 until after morning fog cleared from the Northamptonshire circuit, but he did complete around 100km of installation runs and systems checks in the afternoon.
"Today was really cool and from my point of view it went great," said Monteiro. "We started late because of fog so we didn't achieve everything we wanted to, but we did 35 laps in the afternoon and had no major issues at all.
"I feel comfortable in the car. So far, so good. I'm really happy and looking forward to continuing the work this week."
Further shakedown tests will be conducted today (Tuesday) before the full testing programme commences on Wednesday, when Monteiro's team-mate and fellow rookie Narain Karthikeyan will have his first runs in the EJ15.
