Monteiro Disappointed by Indy Layout

Formula One rookie Tiago Monteiro said he was very disappointed with the Indianapolis circuit following Friday's practice sessions

The Jordan driver, making his debut at the American track, admitted he found the circuit not to be enough of a challenge despite using part of the historic oval.

"There's nothing interesting in it. I thought the oval was going to be challenging, but it's easy flat. We have too much downforce, obviously. I'm really disappointed." said Monteiro, 23rd quickest today.

"The track is not very 'grippy' generally, so we don't seem to have a perfect set-up here. We need to work on that. We still have a hour and a half tomorrow."

Narain Karthikeyan agreed with his teammate after posting the 22nd fastest time of the day.

The Indian was also driving at Indianapolis for the first time.

"The track is quite straightforward and not too hard to learn. What is really crucial here is to position the car well for the fast corners," said Karthikeyan. "The emphasis is on traction so we will try to improve the car for tomorrow.

"Otherwise, I am relatively satisfied with these two practice sessions today and I am looking forward to tomorrow."
