Michelin: Our Strongest Performance of the Year

The United States Grand Prix, which saw three of the top six finishers on Michelin tyres, was the French tyre manufacturer's strongest race of the season - according to motorsport director Pierre Dupasquier.

"I am really pleased with the way our tyres have performed this weekend," Dupasquier said after the race, where David Coulthard was the top Michelin finisher, in third. "I would go so far as to say that this was our strongest performance of the year, even though we didn't win.

"The important thing is that our tyres were quick and consistent on a one-stop strategy and showed no signs of serious wear, what was definitely not the case for our rival even on two stops strategies. In many ways this has been a very successful day for us."

Michelin brought to Indianapolis this weekend a new tyre compound with harder attributes, which all their teams opted to run.

"We only completed a limited amount of running with this compound before the United States Grand Prix," Dupasquier commented, stating: "I believe we are clearly working in the right direction and need only a little bit of fine-tuning to take the next step forward."
