Toyota driver Allan McNish has said that Toyota have already committed to an intensive development programme for their first season in Formula One next year.
The team launched their TF102 challenger last Monday, a car which is totally different to the test car they have been using this year, and McNish says the Cologne-based outfit will pull out all the stops to ensure they enjoy a respectable first season.
"We have big development plans for all parts of the car for next year," said McNish. "It is not just a case of sit down and see how we go. There is a plan for things that will definitely help the car, but it depends on what everybody else does."
Toyota remain quiet over predictions, clearly wary of British American Racing's over-predictions prior to their debut in 1999. And McNish admitted that they are finding it difficult to know where they are in relation to their rivals because they have not yet tested together.
"It is a moving target and that is the problem," he said. "We have not been testing with the other teams and you just have to look at Friday to Saturday times next season to see what it is like."
