Matsuura to test for BAR

Young Japanese driver Kousuke Matsuura has been given the opportunity to test for the British American Racing team at Jerez on December 15

Matsuura finished runner-up in this year's German Formula 3 championship, running for the Italian PREMA team, winning two races. He has strong links with BAR's engine supplier, Honda and is a graduate of the Suzuka Racing School Formula, part of the company's driver development programme.

BAR boss David Richards said: "Kosuke is an extremely confident young talent and we congratulate him on his achievements this year. Kousuke's test also sees greater co-operation between BAR and Honda's respective driver development programmes, which is a key element of our long-term partnership."

Yasuhiro Wada, general manager of Honda's motor sport division, added: "I applaud Kousuke Matsuura on his efforts in German Formula 3 over the last two years, and am very pleased that he will be participating in a Formula 1 test."

BAR is also due to test Formula Nippon champion Ralph Firman on December 15, at the Barcelona circuit.
