Massa not feeling extra pressure
New Grand Prix winner Felipe Massa claims his maiden victory in Turkey last Sunday does not put him under any extra pressure
The Brazilian, who convincingly won from pole position at the Istanbul track in his fourth year as a Formula One racing driver and his first racing with Ferrari, is yet to learn his future, with his current contract with the Maranello-based team running out at the end of the year.
With the Italian outfit scheduled to make an announcement regarding their 2007 drivers line-up after next week's race in Monza, Massa told autosport.com he isn't losing sleep over it: "I am very calm, we will see what happens.
"I can only say I can get better, and that is my plan. I do not feel any pressure from this result, I just want to continue to be competitive," he replied when asked if he was targeting next year's title.
Having admitted he feels relieved by having won his maiden race, Massa added: "I am even more motivated than before. I just want to do my best and want to work a lot harder now. I am quite sure of what I can do, I am competitive and I can win. The initial learning curve is big in the first season, but I always try to race to win.
"This is my first time in a top team and I could only dream with such a result in the team. I am a lot more mature than before and given the right conditions I can win. Even [reigning World Champion] Fernando [Alonso] did not win in his first year, but then went on to become very successful.
"Where I come from, F1 is very important, it is not easy being a Brazilian driver. There have been many big names in the past, but now they are talking about me.
"I think I have made lots of people happy, I am very happy about that. But it is a difficult world you know, things turn so different so quickly. All I can do is do the maximum, like I have done."
