Massa: no engine fears for Ferrari

Felipe Massa has insisted that Ferrari are not worried at all about Michael Schumacher's engine failure in testing at Barcelona on Thursday

The former world champion stopped out on track, at the Circuit de Catalunya, with a blown engine early in the morning - prompting speculation that the Maranello outfit were still not on top of the piston problems that had marred their start to the season.

But Ferrari later revealed that Schumacher's engine had previously been used by Massa and test driver Luca Badoer, and that it was using solutions that are intended to be used only after next weekend's San Marino Grand Prix.

"That's why the failure doesn't worry us: I was the one testing the engine for Imola and from that point of view we are totally calm," Massa told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"It will definitely be an important race, but if you get there with too much pressure you risk not to do well. We'll try to consider Imola like any other race. These tests tell us we have the means to fight with the best, even though Renault remain the team to beat.

"We've concentrated on race pace and tyres, besides experimenting new interesting things. We are very satisfied. Looking at the lap times, I'd say there are others who tested a lot with empty tanks."
