Massa celebrates 'dream come true'
Local hero Felipe Massa branded his victory at the Brazilian Grand Prix as one of the easiest drives of his career
The Ferrari driver cruised to his second Grand Prix victory unchallenged after having started from pole position.
He said winning at home was a dream come true.
"It is just amazing isn't it," said a tearful Massa. "After 13 years without a Brazilian winning the Brazilian Grand Prix for me it is just amazing to be in front of my people, the first year I have a good car, a fantastic car.
"It was probably the easiest race of my life. I could control everything and wasn't pushing a lot. I was happy to have that moment.
"It is just a dream come true. You see the whole people bringing the flag, screaming your name and jumping, dancing, whatever, just for you. It is difficult to explain, whatever drivers would love to be in my position, Fernando won his home Grand Prix this year and it was fantastic.
"It is the best day of my life."
Massa dominated the race from start to finish, but it wasn't enough to help his team or his teammate Michael Schumacher clinch any of the two championships.
Fernando Alonso finished in second to secure another title, while Renault finished five points ahead of Ferrari in the constructors' standings.
"For sure they deserve it, they made a fantastic beginning to the championship and that was the key to control the end of the championship but in the same way I think we deserve it," Massa added.
"We did a fantastic job, not at the beginning but afterwards we put everything together.
"We made a fantastic car, a fantastic team, and we deserve it as well. It is all written in history about Renault, Michelin and Fernando, but we also did a fantastic job because we worked so hard."
The Brazilian, who hugged Schumacher at the end of the race, said he will miss the German driver.
"Michael is really a friend, he was always positive about me and always wanted me in the team. For me, I will miss him. He is just a fantastic person and very special for me."
