Massa 'can't believe' he is on pole

Felipe Massa admitted he could not believe he managed to secure pole position for the Monaco Grand Prix on Saturday

The Ferrari driver set a fastest time of 1:15.787 in the final session to clinch his third pole of the season and the 12th of his career ahead of tomorrow's race.

"I still cannot believe I am on pole," said Massa. "It is unbelievable.

"I put everything together to learn some tricks in some corners and also having a great car so I still cannot believe I am on pole."

Massa, who beat teammate Kimi Raikkonen to the top spot, said his final lap had been perfect.

"I did the first try and it was not a bad lap," he added. "I saw I was missing some time in a couple of corners and I saw the laptime was not far away from Kimi and Lewis. I think it was a couple of tenths slower but I knew I was able to improve a little bit.

"I was thinking they would improve a little bit as well but I could improve a lot and I was able to do a perfect lap, and in Monaco it is almost impossible to do a perfect lap.

"I managed to do everything the same in every corner and I am on pole."

Despite his pole, the Brazilian admitted tomorrow's race will be difficult, especially if the rain hits the track as expected.

"For sure tomorrow will be another day and it will be very tough," he said. "There are a lot of theoretical problems like the rain which can come at any time. But I'm looking forward to having a great race tomorrow whatever conditions we have."
