Massa aims to redeem himself on Sunday

Felipe Massa is aiming to redeem himself at the European Grand Prix following his disappointing ending to the race in Hungary three weeks ago

The Ferrari driver dominated the Budapest race until he suffered an engine problem with just three laps remaining.

On Saturday, however, Massa showed his strong form again and secured pole position for the first Formula One race in Valencia.

"For sure it is always nice to be on the top after such a bad result, especially how it happened," said Massa, eight points behind championship leader Lewis Hamilton.

"To have a problem with three laps to go with it completely in my pocket... After such a difficult race it's very nice to be here, after the last problem being at the top.

"It is nice to start from pole position and you have more possibilities, so let's try to do a great race tomorrow."

The Brazilian, who secured his fourth pole position of the season, is confident Ferrari have the pace to win tomorrow.

"We have a good car. We showed in the last race but unfortunately sometimes these things can happen, and we showed again here that we are competitive, that is the most important thing. The team did a great job today.

"Starting on pole for the first time for sure is very nice and the track here is not very easy, especially the surface, which is a bit slippery so to make the perfect lap is a bit difficult.

"I had a good lap so I was able to score pole position. I think I have a good car for the race tomorrow. It will be difficult but I will try to do my best."

Teammate Kimi Raikkonen will start from fourth place after continuing with his qualifying difficulties.
