Lap of the track with David Coulthard

The first corner is a very straightforward right-hander, taken in second gear. Braking is in a straight line, and is up hill. Because you're going up hill you brake quite late. It's a very early apex.

After that you run up the hill to Remus corner. That's really nice. Anywhere were you have a change of gradient like that just adds to the driving pleasure. I wish they did more of that at Silverstone! At Remus you have to be careful - especially when you try and overtake your team-mate on the first lap of a Grand Prix! It's quite tight. But it's a fun little corner to drive, because you've really got to be balanced on the brakes. It's second gear again.

Then you go down into Gosser corner. It's very similar to the first two. It's straightline braking, in second gear again. Then it's into Lauda, taken in fourth gear. It's a fairly late apex, sliding wide, dropping-away type of corner.

You go straight into the Berger corner. Again it's taken in fourth gear. It's a fairly long apex. The car generates a lot of grip there. That sequence of corners is beautiful to drive.

Then it's on into Rindt corner, a very fast fifth gear corner. It's not a particularly nice corner because it's downhill, has a short apex, and it drops into a very ugly last corner which is taken in third gear. The first 90 per cent of the track is great, but the last part is a little bit awkward! Nevertheless it's a fun little track and usually creates good racing and lots of overtaking. I enjoyed 1998 when I came through from last to finish second.
