Kubica in no rush to decide future
Robert Kubica says he is in no rush to decide about whether he will stay at BMW Sauber beyond 2008, with his contract due to run out at the end of this year
The Polish driver joined the team as test driver in 2006 and was promoted to a race drive with them in the middle of that year; replacing Jacques Villeneuve and taking his maiden podium finish at Monza.
After having his contract renewed in the middle of last year, in the immediate wake of his huge crash at the Canadian Grand Prix, Kubica has high hopes of helping BMW Sauber score their maiden Formula One victory this year.
That optimism has, however, not changed Kubica's stance that his future remains open for the time being.
"I have made no decision," he said, when asked about when he expected to resolve his F1 future. "For sure I will work to do the best job as possible, but I think it is too early to talk about 2009. Let's concentrate on 2008 and then we will see."
Kubica said he hoped the results on track this year would be more consistent than they were last season.
"I've always felt good with the team, especially at the end of 2006. 2007 was an up and down season but we have made some changes, so let's hope 2008 will be better.
"As always, starting the year I would like to have a consistent strong season and everything depends on how strong the car is. I will try my best to do the best results for myself and the team."
