Kubica fastest on day 2 of Jerez testing

Honda joined BMW-Sauber at Jerez for testing today, with Robert Kubica setting the fastest time among the four drivers taking part in today's session

The Polish driver beat BMW teammate Nick Heidfeld by over a second, with Honda's Anthony Davidson and James Rossiter trailing closely behind.

The day did not go by without problems for the BMW team, though. Heidfeld's car suffered a mechanical breakdown around noon, while Kubica's car stopped on track later in the afternoon.

Nevertheless, both drivers were able to complete the work programme for the day, which included set-up work for the next three flyaway Grands Prix, as well as aerodynamics and tyre evaluation.

Honda, who began a three-day session today, had an event-less day with both their British test drivers concentrating on engine, electronics and aero development work, as well as the usual tyre testing.

The two teams continue work at Jerez tomorrow, with Jenson Button replacing Davidson for Honda duties.

Today's times:

Pos Driver Team Time Laps
 1. Kubica BMW-Sauber (M) 1:16.497 71
 2. Heidfeld BMW-Sauber (M) 1:17.591 55
 3. Davidson Honda (M) 1:17.618 117
 4. Rossiter Honda (M) 1:17.765 118
