Korean GP: Jenson Button says longer DRS will fix Korea overtaking

Jenson Button believes that overtaking should be improved in the Korean Grand Prix this year thanks to a longer DRS zone

The FIA has extended the DRS activation zone on the main straight at the Yeongam circuit by 80 metres compared to last year - which Button thinks should be enough to make a difference.

"That has probably helped," he said. "Last year was very difficult but this year you can hopefully pull in front with DRS.

"It will not be an exciting move, but we will see some overtaking moves at least."

Button thinks that the layout of the Korea circuit makes overtaking exceptionally tricky, despite a configuration that on paper looks conducive to overtaking.

"It is a really unusual track," he said. "There are such long straights that you would think it would be easy to overtake but it is not. It is so difficult.

"If the guy ahead blocks you into Turn 2 and you on the outside then you can't overtake because he can run you wide.

"Then out of Turn 2 you are blocked all the way on the inside. So at Turn 3 you get on the outside and he runs you off the circuit again - and that is it. Then you do the same thing the next lap."
