Kimi Raikkonen was eliminated from the German Grand Prix in a multiple pile-up involving him, Rubens Barrichello and Ralf Schumacher. His McLaren-Mercedes was badly damaged in the accident and the Finn was taken to the Hockenheim medical centre, shaken up and nursing a bruised leg. No doubt he was cursing the lost opportunity to score points over championship leader Micheal Schumacher on a circuit that suited McLaren and Williams' Michelin tyres, so it must have been with some relief that he saw Schumacher's Ferrari crawling back to the pits with a deflated rear tyre on the TV screens. "I made a very good start and went basically straight on the outside. I got past both of the cars and then suddenly something hit on the rear, and I just went straight off."
