Jos 'in talks' with Jordan

Jos Verstappen's sponsors are talking to both Jordan and Minardi this week about a race seat for next year. These are the last two teams with available drives, and both are looking for paying drivers

"Now is the time to look properly at the status of the Jordan team," said Raymond Vermeulen, who represents one of Verstappen's sponsors. "It's not just a question of what Jos can offer them, but also what they can offer Jos.

"The first talks about a seat with Jordan took place at Monza [in September], and we've been planning to meet again for a while," Vermeulen told Verstappen's personal website.

The meeting takes place on Wednesday. Verstappen has also been talking to Minardi about staying with the team, and his representatives meet Paul Stoddart again tomorrow (Tuesday).

"You never know in Formula 1. Maybe we'll settle something this week, maybe before Christmas or maybe only halfway through January."

Verstappen has been in Formula 1 with various outfits since he made his debut with the front-running Benetton in 1994. Although he has missed a couple of seasons, it may be noted that with the exception of his most recent team Minardi, none of the teams he has raced with exist any longer.
