Jordan will Not Block Doornbos Move

Jordan said they will not block Robert Doornbos from driving for Minardi in this weekend's German Grand Prix, should the test driver land a seat in place of Patrick Friesacher

Negotiations are continuing at Minardi to resolve their current driver situation, with Friesacher understood to not have the funding to continue with the team.Minardi have been talking to both Doornbos and former driver Zsolt Baumgartner about a race deal, but a final decision has yet to be made.

Doornbos is the favourite for the seat, and he has been told that if he lands the Minardi seat, then he will not face a contractual wrangle with Jordan to release him from his third driver commitments at the team.

"There is not a lot of time to find someone to fill the seat but we will try not to block the move," A spokesman for the Midland Group, which owns Jordan, said. "We want to allow Robert to fulfil his career ambitions."

Minardi do not need to nominate their second driver until later this week, although it is expected that an announcement will be made before Wednesday.
