Jordan plans TV driver search
The Jordan Formula 1 team is planning a reality TV show to give a rookie driver the chance to drive for the team in 2007
The concept would see judges draw up a shortlist of drivers, which would then be featured in a TV show. Viewers would have the chance to vote for their favourites. The winner would then be given training for around three years before they made their GP debut for the team.
"[Team boss] Eddie Jordan has been quite involved with Bernie Ecclestone in looking at ways of promoting F1," a Jordan spokeswoman told The Guardian. "We've been in discussions for quite some time and hope to make it happen next year."
The plan is for the TV programme, devised by Jordan and sports marketing firm SlaterHerd, to begin next year. It is the second reality TV style plan to have surfaced in F1 in recent weeks, with BAR boss David Richards saying that he could hold a televised shoot-out to determine its second driver - a concept that didn't impress current driver Jacques Villeneuve.
