Jordan Cars Released from Monza

The Jordan Grand Prix team said on Tuesday that the Italian magistrates investigating the multi-car pile-up at the Italian Grand Prix at Monza had released their cars.

Drivers Heinz-Harald Frentzen and Jarno Trulli were involved in the collision last Sunday at the La Roggia chicane which resulted in the death of fire marshal Paolo Gislimberti, who was hit by flying debris.

Investigators retained the two Mugen-Honda-powered cars along with Rubens Barrichello's Ferrari, David Coulthard's McLaren and Pedro de la Rosa's Arrows.

Dr Salvatore Bellomo, the acting prosecutor, examined all five cars yesterday and has now released them.

A statement from Jordan said: "The two Jordan EJ10's, which together with the other cars involved in Sunday's incident were impounded after the race, have been released back to the team and are now en-route back to Jordan Silverstone factory."

The team now plans to repair the two cars in time for the United States Grand Prix in two weeks time. But they have also prepared two other race chassis.
