Jerez 4: Raikkonen again

Raikkonen's best lap of one minute 16.307 seconds was four tenths faster than Heidfeld and half a second faster than Rubens Barrichello's best - as Ferrari decided to modify its F2004 back to full 2004 spec in order to make comparison between the 2005-spec downforce levels it has been running for much of the week.

Heidfeld's lap came right at the end of the day as he went for a quick time, having been dogged by a hydraulic problem earlier in the day. The pace could not have come at a better moment, though, as Williams edges towards a decision on its final driver line-up for 2005.

Antonio Pizzonia rounded off his winter testing by completing long runs for the team - but his priority was to leave the track as soon as possible to be at the birth of his first child.

Williams technical director Sam Michael echoed earlier comments that he was encouraged by the potential shown by both Pizzonia and Heidfeld - and claimed that any comparisons on Friday were worthless because of car issues.

"Antonio has done lots of laps and it was very good," said Michael. "On the long runs he had no problem but unfortunately Nick had an hydraulic leak in the morning and it took a long time to have it changed. Although he went out in the afternoon he could not achieve much."

Ralf Schumacher was fifth fastest overall, just behind Ferrari's Luca Badoer, and the German was beaming about the progress he has made at Toyota since he started testing with it after the season.

"It has been a good couple of weeks," he told autosport.com. "I adapted to the team a lot more quickly than I thought I would and also to the car.

"First of all I had to learn the car but this week I concentrated more on the tyre programme. I had one engine failure, but it was really close to the engine mileage anyway, so it has been a very good two weeks."
