Jaguar Appoint New Head of Aerodynamics

Ben Agathangelou will join the Jaguar team as head of aerodynamics from May 1st, the Milton Keynes squad announced on Tuesday.

Ben Agathangelou will join the Jaguar team as head of aerodynamics from May 1st, the Milton Keynes squad announced on Tuesday.

Agathangelou joins Jaguar from the Renault F1 team, where his most recent role was also head of aerodynamics, and he will oversee the core aerodynamic programme at Jaguar led by chief aerodynamicist Mark Handford and chief designer John Russell.

"Ben will bring a new and experienced technical dimension to this team," said technical director Guenther Steiner. "We have never really lacked in any other aspect of our racing package apart from aerodynamic efficiency and combined with our new windtunnel, we can now set clearly defined goals which will allow us to compete on an even playing field with our competitors in Formula One.

"Ben's appointment is the latest step in our ongoing efforts to build a solid technical base that will better prepare Jaguar Racing for the long-term challenges that lie ahead. Our efforts at recruiting the best personnel do not stop here and we look forward to announcing some more additions to our team in the very near future."

Jaguar also announced that their new wind tunnel in Bicester will start contributing to the development of their R3 car from next Tuesday. The new wind tunnel will be manned by a permanent Jaguar Racing staff of ten people and will act as a satellite testing facility to the core aerodynamics department at the Milton Keynes headquarters

"We will initially be using the windtunnel for 16 hours a day, 6 days a week, moving to a 24 hour a day operation in the very near future," added Steiner.
