Jag to release Webber early

Jaguar Racing has announced that it will release Mark Webber from the team's testing duties after the final race of the season in Brazil on October 24. It means the Australian will be free to begin work with new team Williams when the testing ban is lifting at the end of November

"In order to continue to support Mark Webber in his career, he will be released from his testing duties with Jaguar Racing post the final race in Brazil in order to start his 2004 winter test programme with his 2005 team BMW-WilliamsF1," a team statement read.

"Mark will test in plain overalls and will continue to be under contract with Jaguar Racing until the end of December 2004 carrying out any PR/marketing obligations with the team."

It is not yet clear who will join Webber in the second Williams seat. The Contracts Recognition Board is set to announce its verdict on Jenson Button's contract on October 16 when it will be decided whether the Briton has a contract with his current team BAR or Williams.

Current Williams drivers Ralf Schumacher and Juan Pablo Montoya have contracts with the team until December 31, but it is likely that Williams will likewise allow them to test for their new teams - Toyota and McLaren respectively - whilst carrying out PR duties until the end of the year with Williams.
