Indy boss believes F1 will return

Bernie Ecclestone and Indianapolis chiefs could not reach a deal to hold a United States Grand Prix next year, and the American circuit instead agreed to host a MotoGP event.

But despite question marks about whether or not F1 will ever return to Indianapolis, Chitwood has said that he believes a deal can be put in place for another grand prix.

"I think that Formula One will come back, I really do," Chitwood was quoted as saying by the Bloomberg news agency. "There's nothing definitive but I think there has been some dialogue. It's coming up with the right plan so everybody can benefit from it."

Chitwood made it clear that Indianapolis certainly had the desire to recapture the F1 race, especially having invested so much money in hosting the race in the first place.

"We've made a lot of investment in the property,'' Chitwood said. "We were disappointed when it went away. For us, the goal is to see if we can get them to come back at some point."
