Heidfeld sees no reason to leave BMW

Nick Heidfeld says the BMW Sauber team are his main choice for the future, as the German driver considers his options for next year

BMW are yet to decide if they are taking up an option to keep Heidfeld in 2008, and team boss Mario Theissen said they are in no hurry to sort out their line-up.

Heidfeld, however, admits he wants to stay with the German squad.

"I hope that my future will be here with BMW, that is my goal," Heidfeld told reporters ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix.

"That is my number one choice for the moment. I feel confident in the team, I enjoy being here and I think at the moment it is the best chance, and I have the best perspective to fight for the world championship in the future.

"So there is no reason to leave really."

Heidfeld insists he would like to sort out his future soon, but says he is not concerned about Theissen wanting to wait.

"As I have said time and again in the past, I would like to have it sooner rather than later. Mario wants to wait a bit but I don't think it is a big issue."
