Heidfeld enjoys Jordan run

Nick Heidfeld was in upbeat mood after a tricky first acquaintance with Jordan and the EJ13 at Jerez yesterday

The former Sauber driver had limited track time thanks to a combination of car snags, weather and red flags, but enjoyed himself.

"It was a nice day," he said. "my first time in a Formula 1 car after a few weeks. I was quite happy with how the test worked, although we had a problem with the gearbox, a lot of red flags and unfortunately some rain in the afternoon.

"I got familiar with the car after a couple of outings, and with my engineer I've identified a few small changes I'd still like to make. The car was better to drive than I expected and it has been a nice atmosphere - I get on well with the people in the team. It was good and I'm looking forward to the next two days."

Heidfeld, who is widely expected to firm up a 2004 deal with Jordan, will be joined at the test tomorrow (Friday) by 2003 team driver Ralph Firman.
