Happy Trulli Confident of Strong Race

Italian Jarno Trulli is confident of a competitive German Grand Prix following another impressive qualifying performance today.

Italian Jarno Trulli is confident of a competitive German Grand Prix following another impressive qualifying performance today.

Trulli had qualified in second position at the British Grand Prix two weeks ago, and the Renault driver continued with his strong showing, posting the four fastest time in today's qualifying session for the Hockenheim race.

"It was a pretty busy day, but the result is a good fourth place in qualifying," said Trulli. "We tested a lot of things during the different sessions, and the car is well balanced. I am pretty confident that our race pace tomorrow will be competitive."

Trulli outpaced his teammate Fernando Alonso, who had to be content with eighth position despite admitting he was happy with his car.

"I had a clean lap but, in the end, it wasn't particularly quick," said the Spaniard. "I didn't make any mistakes and I was relatively pleased with the car's handling. However, the lap time just wasn't there: we now have to take a long hard look at the data to understand where the problem is."
