Grapevine: Piquet Jr to Drive Father's Car

Nelson Piquet Jr willl appear at the Goodwood Festival of Speed later this month driving one of his father's former Championship winning cars

Piquet is due to drive the 1987 Williams FW11B, with which his father won his final Formula One World Championship, and will be joining such luminaries as Emerson Fittipaldi, Damon Hill, Sir Jack Brabham and Sir Stirling Moss, as well as current drivers such as Fernando Alonso, Jenson Button and David Coulthard.

Piquet noted: "I'm really excited about driving the FW11B - it's really special to me to have the opportunity to drive that car. This is the same Formula One car that my father won the World Championship with in 1987, when I was only two years old.

"I've driven current Formula One cars with Williams and BAR Honda over the last couple of years, but today's cars are so different, and the great thing about this event is that I'm going to be able to do everything I love - drive a great car, meet really interesting people who have achieved things that I want to achieve, and get to look at a lot of special cars."

The Festival will be open from 24-26 June, and Piquet will drive on the second and third days of the event.
