Grapevine: Massa, Todt visit children's hospital
Felipe Massa and Ferrari sporting director Jean Todt both admitted that their eyes had been opened after paying an emotional visit to a children's hospital in Sao Paulo on Thursday
Massa and Todt spent one hour at the Graac Hospital for children suffering from cancer. They spoke to the children and presented them with a model of Massa's Ferrari 248 F1 car.
Both men were clearly moved by the experience, and confessed that it had delivered them a stark lesson about life outside of the F1 world.
Massa said: "It is not the first time I have been to visit the hospital and every time I go there it is a new experience. You can see a real world, which you think is far away from you, but in reality is just around the corner.
"You enjoy more your life because you see the good that you have and you have more willingness to help people who suffer. I love children and I love to stay with them and I am happy we can help them."
Todt added: "It was nice to go there, and was good because we could bring some smiles to the face of children who are suffering. And it was helpful for the F1 world, which is often closed in on itself, to have a glimpse of what is real life."
