Grapevine: Ecclestone still tops rich list

Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone remained motor racing's richest figure in the latest Sunday Times 'Rich List'

Also prominent at the top of the motorsport list is Paddy McNally, the former owner of F1's hospitality and track-side advertising company Allsport.

The pair's fortunes both increased this year, although Ecclestone's £2,250 million (GBP) fortune looks small compared to list-topper Lakshmi Mittal's £19,250 million from the steel industry.

Dutch computer tycoon Jan Mol, the father of Spyker owner Michiel who invested in his son's business ventures, is next up in 348th on the list.

Former driver Eddie Irvine ranks as having £150 million from his property investment and ownership of Jenkins Shipping, one of Ireland's largest paper importers.

Frank Williams is the richest F1 team boss in the UK, on £95 million, while Jenson Button is ranked 17th on the under-30s Young List with his £30 million.

Lewis Hamilton is a new entry, with the Sunday Times estimating his worth at £5 million (GBP).
