Grapevine: British GP bosses gamble on Button

British Grand Prix organisers are aiming to benefit from Jenson Button's winning form, by offering fans a part of their money back if the Honda driver wins next year's race

Silverstone has promised to give anyone purchasing an adult grandstand ticket before the end of September 2006, £50 back if Button wins the 2007 British Grand Prix.

Interest in tickets for next year's race has increased since the Briton scored his maiden Formula One win in the Hungarian Grand Prix last month.

In addition to the Button offer, general admission tickets have been frozen for the third year running.

Silverstone bosses have also increased the number of price categories for the race, scheduled for its traditional 6-8 July date, providing spectators with more choice and the opportunity to cherry-pick their ticket price and seating position.

"We're delighted that the 2007 British Grand Prix has been moved back to its traditional July date," said Richard Phillips, Managing Director of Silverstone Circuits Limited. "The British public don't like change and they look forward to the British Grand Prix being in July.

"It's also important from a hospitality point of view; corporate hospitality is incredibly popular, and it helps when companies and guests know that an event will take place on, or around, the same date each year.

"It would be great if a British driver won. Jenson and David Coulthard always enjoy huge support at the British Grand Prix, but our offer to give fans £50 back if Jenson wins his home race will take that support to an entirely new level."
