Grapevine: Berger amused by STR sale rumours

Berger has denied all season long that he is poised to sell off his shares, but that did not stop recent rumours emerging that a deal could happen between himself and ART GP2 outfit owner Nicolas Todt.

Speaking to autosport.com about the situation, Berger has said he no longer gets frustrated by the stories - and he is now even amused that there are suggestions Michael Schumacher and Ross Brawn could be poised to get involved.

"I am not so sure it is annoying any more, although for a while I thought so," he said. "Now, it is in one way funny, how we are able to produce every weekend a new headline.

"Every weekend I am selling, and I have just heard that now next year we will be racing a Ferrari chassis, engine and gearbox. That is a new one!

"Maybe it is good for us to be talked about. But sometimes I am just wondering where these stories come from.

"Even so I would be surprised if Ross Brawn comes here. As far as I know he is going back to Ferrari, and never once did I speak to Ross.

"I never talked one word with Nicolas Todt about selling shares, and never talked with Michael. It is true that people are coming and they say they want to be sponsors or they want some shares, but every team has the same requests."

Speculation about Todt's involvement in the team intensified after Berger was seen talking with the Frenchman at the Monaco Grand Prix - even though those discussions were about Sebastien Bourdais' future test with the team. Todt is handling Bourdais' interests in F1.

"I sat with Nicolas in Monaco and honestly we talked about the next test of Bourdais, and what we planned to do in Spa (where Bourdais will test next).

"Then the next day the rumours were that we were discussing selling shares. I don't want to sell any shares, and I don't think Red Bull want to sell any shares.

"What we want is always to get the team technically forward. And what is more than welcome is a good sponsor - that is all fine for us. But there is no selling agenda."
