Glock to test for BMW Sauber

Former Jordan driver and GP2 frontrunner Timo Glock will test for BMW-Sauber at Jerez next week, autosport.com has learned

The German has been looking for opportunities to get back in an F1 car and was originally supposed to test for BMW-Sauber at the Jerez test prior to the Chinese Grand Prix. However, he had to pull out of that run because of a sprained wrist that he suffered in a crash at the GP2 finale in Monza.

It is understood that Glock has had a seat fitting at BMW-Sauber's Hinwil factory and is currently in the final stages of a rehabilitation programme he is undergoing at the sports clinic of Bad-Nauheim.

BMW-Sauber are current evaluating their test driver options for next year. Although current third driver Sebastian Vettel has impressed in his early running with the team, the fact that he is under contract to Red Bull Racing is believed to make BMW-Sauber reluctant to bring him on.

The team do not want to put time and effort into developing Vettel as a driver, only for Red Bull Racing to get the benefit of that in a few years' time.
