Frentzen Pleased Despite Track Conditions

German Heinz-Harald Frentzen was pleased with his performance in Friday qualifying for the Brazilian Grand Prix despite the treacherous weather conditions.

German Heinz-Harald Frentzen was pleased with his performance in Friday qualifying for the Brazilian Grand Prix despite the treacherous weather conditions.

The qualifying session at the Interlagos circuit went ahead as planned despite some drivers signing a petition for it to be called off if the track conditions remained as tricky as they were during morning free practice.

Sauber driver Frentzen managed to stay out of trouble and finished as 10th quickest.

"Generally I'd say things this morning were okay, given the conditions and the spin I had," said Frentzen. "The track was better this afternoon, but worse for my run than it was for some of those who ran before me. That's life.

"The balance was quite good and overall I'm happy with what we achieved today."

Teammate Nick Heidfeld opted for a more cautious approach for his flying lap, winding up 16th fastest, four second off the pace of Jaguar's Mark Webber, who topped the times.

"This morning I had a problem when my car suffered an hydraulic failure, so I didn't get much running time," said Heidfeld. "This afternoon the car felt a lot better in the slightly improved conditions, but I was quite cautious, especially in the last long left-hander to the start/finish line."
