Frentzen- 'I can win this race'

After missing out on pole by just 0.050s Jordan's Heinz-Harald Frentzen is looking for a home win at Hockenheim. He believes he can match the McLarens in tomorrow's race and take his third career victory.

Heinz-Harald Frentzen is looking for a home victory after taking his best grid position in two seasons.

The German held pole until a late run from Mika Hakkinen pipped his time by just 0.050s. He is likely to be even stronger in the race when his car
is powered by
a new spec Mugen-Honda engine.

'I am delighted. I'm surprised the McLarens are so strong...' he joked.

'It is a dream being on the front row for my home race.

'For sure the performance here is better than we expected but
we had hopes
because we had a good test session in Monza a couple of weeks
ago.

'It is not impossible we could win. We were strong in
qualifying and we
have a strong package for the race.

'For a couple of moments I thought I would be on pole. I only
saw my lap
time going over the finish line and saw 1m43.000 flat, saw the
crowds waving
and thought it must have been quick, it was a nice feeling.

'We have a new engine in qualifying which we have only run in
testing in
Monza.

'It is not impossible we could win. We are on the hard tyres
like the
McLarens. They have a strong race base but if we can be quick in qualifying then we can be quick in the race as well.'
