Frentzen back on the wanted list

Prost driver Heinz-Harald Frentzen's fourth place on the grid at last weekend's Belgian Grand Prix has moved the German back on to the wanted list as the Formula 1 driver market for 2002 takes shape

Frentzen's fourth place at Spa was the French team's highest qualifying effort of the year by a long way and showed that the German ace has lost none of his abilities since being sacked by Jordan in July.

Prost and Arrows are both known to be interested in securing Frentzen's services for next year, but he is likely to wait until the end of the season before he makes any decisions for 2002.

Jean Alesi, who replaced Frentzen at Jordan, did his chances of holding onto his seat with the Silverstone-based team for next year no harm by finishing sixth in Belgium. A decision on whether he will partner the incoming Giancarlo Fisichella is expected by next weekend's Italian Grand Prix.

With Giancarlo Fisichella confirmed with Jordan, Arrows boss Tom Walkinshaw must look elsewhere for a partner to Jos Verstappen. Frentzen is one possible option, but Walkinshaw says he has yet to make any decisions.

"I will give [Arrows' current driver] Enrique Bernoldi the best opportunity to show what he can do," Walkinshaw told this week's Autosport magazine. "He has done a good job for us, out-qualifying Jos on several occasions."

Spanish star Fernando Alonso is also set to be key to next year's driver line-ups with the Minardi ace linked with Prost, Arrows, Jordan and also Sauber as a possible replacemnet to rising star Kimi Raikkonen.
