Fisichella thanks overnight changes

Malaysian Grand Prix pole position man Giancarlo Fisichella believes set-up changes to his car overnight played a key part in his return to the front of the field

After seeing engine problems wreck his Bahrain Grand Prix weekend, Fisichella was clearly overjoyed at getting his season back on track at Sepang.

"All day yesterday we ran without any problems but we made some adjustments overnight and this morning the car was easier to drive," said Fisichella.

"I felt very comfortable with the three qualifying sessions, especially the last one. I was very comfortable with the car and this is a great answer to last Sunday where we had a problem already on Saturday."

With the heat of Sepang expected to make life difficult for drivers in the race tomorrow, Fisichella has insisted he is ready for anything that will be thrown at him.

"It is really tough and will be the toughest race of the season for me," he said. "But physically and mentally I am strong. I feel right, this is a tough race but it is going to be the same for everybody."

Fisichella also said he did not know what happened to teammate Fernando Alonso, who ended qualifying eighth fastest.

"Fernando is eighth I think and it is not his (usual) position," he explained. "I don't know what his problem is but I am really happy for my performance and looking forward to tomorrow."

Alonso told Spanish television after qualifying his Renault had been refuelled twice by mistake and so he was running with a very heavy car.
