Fisichella Targeting Points Finish

Giancarlo Fisichella is aiming to score some points in tomorrow's German Grand Prix after a promising qualifying session today.

Giancarlo Fisichella is aiming to score some points in tomorrow's German Grand Prix after a promising qualifying session today.

The Italian Jordan driver has struggled for pace since he scored a lucky victory at the Brazilian Grand Prix back in April.

Since that, Fisichella has failed to score a point for the Silverstone-based team, but after setting the 12th fastest time in today's final qualifying the Roman is hoping to return to the top eight.

"The car today was better than yesterday and I did a very good lap, I honestly did my best," said the Italian driver. "I'm pleased compared to yesterday and I hope to score points tomorrow â€" it will be very difficult but we're going to do our best."

Fisichella outqualified his rookie teammate Ralph Firman by over 1.5 seconds, the Briton posting the 18th quickest time.

"Today was very disappointing," said Firman. "I had a good day yesterday but I couldn't capitalise on it, and ended up with a lot of oversteer in qualifying, although the car had understeer in warm-up. Let's see how we go in the race."
