Fisichella philosophical over Renault form
Italian Giancarlo Fisichella is staying philosophical about Renault's current form, hoping things will get better in the second half of the season
The French squad, world champions for the past two years, have failed to match last year's competitiveness, lacking the pace to fight at the top of the field due to problems with their car.
But Fisichella, who has scored just eight points this season, says there is nothing else to do but work hard and try to get the best out of their current package.
"It's a little bit tough," Fisichella told reporters at Monaco. "Maybe it's going to be better for the second part of the season, but that's life. We need to do our best with what we have and we need to score points, try to get on the podium. Everything is possible.
"It's not easy, especially after the expectations from the last couple of seasons. But I have enough experience. After many years I know how to manage difficult periods, and I'm just looking forward and pushing like crazy, and that's all."
The Roman reckons, however, that Renault are getting closer to solving their problems thanks to a their hard work.
"I think we are starting to understand the problems and the areas, and it's mainly aerodynamics," the Italian said. "We are working on it very hard, working on it 24 hours a day. The team is really doing well and I'm quite optimistic for the next few races."
Fisichella is hopeful the twisty Monte Carlo track, the slowest on the Formula One calendar, will boost his team's chances of getting closer to the fastest cars.
"I think it's a circuit where we can be a little bit closer," Fisichella added. "There are not a lot high speed corners, and I'm a little bit more optimistic because we have a new front wing so it should be a little bit better."
