Giancarlo Fisichella is hoping to finish tomorrow's Italian Grand Prix, although he reckons his chances of scoring points are slim.
"It was a good lap and the car is better than it was yesterday," said Fisichella after qualifying in 13th position with his Jordan. "I hope to get to the end tomorrow because I haven't finished the last few races.
"It's going to be difficult to score points but it's my home Grand Prix and I'm giving it my best as always."
The Italian driver has not made it to the end of a race since the European Grand Prix in June, where he finished in 12th position. Fisichella has not scored a point since he won the Brazilian Grand Prix in April.
Hungary's Zsolt Baumgartner, replacing Briton Ralph Firman at Monza, was unable to match the pace of his teammate. The rookie posted the 18th quickest time, almost three seconds off Fisichella's pace.
"I think qualifying was okay," said the Hungarian. "I hope that tomorrow I can get in front of Verstappen and it's my goal to finish the race. In Hungary I couldn't do that, so I'm really looking forward to this additional chance to race in a Grand Prix."
