Fisichella Fastest at Rain-Soaked Silverstone

Jordan's Giancarlo Fisichella today set the fastest time of the day at Silverstone, in rain-soaked conditions, where the team were testing alongside Williams and Renault.

Jordan's Giancarlo Fisichella today set the fastest time of the day at Silverstone, in rain-soaked conditions, where the team were testing alongside Williams and Renault.

Fisichella set a time of 1:22.397 - less than two tenths faster than teammate Ralph Firman. The duo were followed by Renault test driver Allan McNish and Williams test driver Marc Gene. Today was the third and final day of testing at the British circuit.

"Although we progressed through the test program at Silverstone this week, it was hampered by Juan Pablo [Montoya's] crash yesterday afternoon and by bad weather today," Williams chief operations engineer, Sam Michael, said.

"However, we have still learnt a great deal and tested some new parts ready for the Spanish Grand Prix next week. Marc finished off the test today by verifying some wet and dry tyre choices for Michelin."

Renault too were pleased with their progress. "Despite the rain in the afternoon, we had another useful day of testing," declared technical director Mike Gascoyne. "In the morning we tried the same development engine of yesterday and we ran a considerable amount of mileage without incurring in any problems. We also continued a suspension work and we are able to confirm the positive gain on suspension made yesterday. In the afternoon, we did some wet tyre work. Overall, we had a productive session in preparation for the Spanish Grand Prix."

Today's times:
