Fisichella considering his options

Giancarlo Fisichella is considering other options in case Renault sign two-time world champion Fernando Alonso, the Italian's manager says

"The situation will untangle when Renault make a decision," Enrico Zanarini was quoted as saying by the Corriere dello Sport newspaper.

"It's a matter of choices. When Renault decide, we'll know a bit more. In any case, once rumours of a possible return by Alonso began, we started looking around.

"Preferences? None. There have been discussions from our part with the teams that have a free seat, but there are no ongoing deal talks. In any case we await a decision by Renault," he added.

Fisichella was hoping to stay at the Renault team, but the Roman's renewal was put on hold as doubts were cast over the future of Alonso at McLaren.

Alonso left the British squad last week, and team boss Flavio Briatore revealed the team had made an offer to the Spaniard.

Renault have Heikki Kovalainen under contract for next season.

Zanarini said that in case Renault should take Alonso back and release Fisichella, they "would in any case be far from a decision because we would have to properly evalutate any possible new choice."
