Fisichella Complains about Lack of Grip

Giancarlo Fisichella complained about the lack of grip from his Sauber in Friday practice for the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Giancarlo Fisichella complained about the lack of grip from his Sauber in Friday practice for the Hungarian Grand Prix.

The Italian driver, who will leave the Sauber team to join Renault next season, was one of several men who struggled with the poor track conditions, going off during the second practice session.

Fisichella could only manage the 16th quickest time of the day.

"Generally we lacked grip today," said the Italian. "It was windy at times and the conditions were from lap to lap inconsistent, and understeer was our problem. That's why I went off in Turn Four, I ran wide and then got on to the gravel.

"Luckily the car wasn't damaged. On long runs we weren't so bad, but we have some set-up work to do."

Brazilian teammate Felipe Massa also had a difficult session, and like Fisichella he went off the track in the afternoon. Massa wound up 22nd.

"It was not an easy day," said Massa. "The car was pretty loose both this morning and this afternoon, and I had a lot of understeer. That caught me out in Turn Four this afternoon, just like Giancarlo, but it's just the first day, and the track is still very green."
