Fisi and Webber on the move

Renault has confirmed Giancarlo Fisichella will partner Fernando Alonso in 2005 in place of Jarno Trulli, who is now expected to join Toyota. In a separate move, Mark Webber has signed for Williams-BMW for 2005 -CLICK HERE for story

Fisichella, 31, last drove for the Enstone-based team under its Benetton guise in 2001. He departure leaves a vacancy at Sauber which could be filled by British hotshots Anthony Davidson or Gary Paffett.

"We are delighted to welcome Giancarlo to the Renault team," said Renault F1's managing director Flavio Briatore. "Since we last worked with him in 2001, every aspect of his approach to the sport has matured. I am confident that Fernando and Giancarlo are the drivers we need to achieve our goal of winning the world championship in the coming seasons."

Briatore paid tribute to the departing Trulli, who won the Monaco Grand Prix for the Anglo-French squad this year.

"Jarno's dedication and enthusiasm have been great assets and he has made an important contribution to the development of the team, and the image of the Renault Group," he added. "He is assured a successful future in Formula 1, and I wish him all the best for the future on behalf of the entire team."
