Briton Ralph Firman is looking to another wet session in tomorrow's final qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix following an impressive performance today.
"I had a reasonably good lap and was a little bit luckier with the weather than others were," said Jordan driver Firman after posting the fourth fastest time in a wet first qualifying session at the Montreal circuit.
"The important thing is not to make any big mistakes and the car felt really good on these tyres so hopefully it will keep raining for tomorrow."
The British rookie, racing an F1 car for the first time in Canada, outqualified his Italian teammate Giancarlo Fisichella, who could only finish in a disappointing 18th position after going out on track at what he claimed was the worst possible moment.
"Unfortunately I went out at the worst possible moment," said the Italian. "The rain was at its heaviest and so I am in the last few places, along with (Jarno) Trulli who went out around the same time.
"I'm not really happy but at least it's not Saturday, which is the important one."
