World Champion Michael Schumacher and Ferrari teammate Rubens Barrichello set a blistering pace in the morning session of the third day of testing at the Barcelona circuit, as the Italian squad continued to dominate.
German Schumacher posted a quickest time of 1:15.465 this morning, lapping around four tenths of a second slower than the track record, set by himself last month. Barrichello, fastest yesterday and still at the wheel of the second F2002 chassis, finished three tenths behind his teammate.
Frenchman Olivier Panis, who today took over from Toyota teammate Cristiano da Matta, wound up third fastest with the TF103 car, but the veteran driver was nearly two seconds off Schumacher's pace. Sauber's Nick Heidfeld was fourth quickest with the C22, which today included some new aerodynamic parts.
The Renault, BAR, Williams and Jaguar teams were also in action this morning, all of them, except Jaguar, working with two cars on track.
Testing resumes in the afternoon.
