The Ferrari team dominated the final day of this week's testing at the Jerez de la Frontera circuit, where the Italian team's three drivers finished on top of the times.
Luca Badoer was, for the second consecutive day, the quickest man at the Spanish circuit, where the drivers were again forced to work in the wet following a constant rain that only stopped in the afternoon.
Badoer was the busiest man with 73 laps and finished almost a second ahead of Brazilian Felipe Massa in the second of the F2003-GA cars. Compatriot Luciano Burti posted the third fastest time of the day in the third of the Ferraris.
German Nick Heidfeld was the quickest of the non-Ferrari drivers as he completed a three-day test with the Jordan team. Heidfeld was joined today by Briton Ralph Firman, who returned to action following the end of the season in Japan. The Jordan driver could cover 46 laps, but finished at the bottom of the times almost a second behind Heidfeld.
"Overall I'm really happy with the three day test and the only negative thing was obviously the weather, which prevented us from completing the planned number of laps and carrying out our plans for dry conditions," said Heidfeld.
"We thought it would be hard to get anything at all out of today as at times it was almost impossible to drive, but in actual fact we were able to do a Bridgestone wet weather programme, which was good. I would very much like to learn about the car in dry conditions but at least I know it is quite good and how to set it up in wet conditions."
The BAR-Honda squad wrapped up their three-day programme today, again with Jenson Button and Takuma Sato carrying out the testing duties. Today it was Button who worked with the new concept car, while Sato was at the wheel of the 005 from last season. The Japanese finished half a second ahead of the Briton.
Formula One returns to Jerez next week for the final test of the year.
