Ferrari sure Raikkonen will fight back

The world champion has not tasted victory in the last eight races and has been overshadowed by teammate Felipe Massa, who has won four races compared to Raikkonen's two.

The Brazilian has also started from pole position four times while the Finn has done that just twice and has struggled for pace over a single lap in the last races.

Raikkonen's problems were made worse in Valencia on Sunday, when the Ferrari driver retired with an engine failure, not before having hit a mechanic when trying to set off before the refuelling was done.

The world champion is now 13 points behind championship leader Lewis Hamilton.

Despite his run of disappointing races, Domenicali says Ferrari are fully behind Raikkonen, and the Italian admits he has no doubts about the Finn's ability.

"It's easy when things are going well, that everyone close to you puts your arms on their shoulders to say you are number one, number one, number one and then suddenly when you have a difficult situation, then you see, ha ha, this is already a boiled driver. That's not the case," said Domenicali after the European Grand Prix.

"He's the world champion, we are a team, and of course we will support everyone of the team, and above all, of course Kimi, because we trust him 100 percent.

"It's in the difficult moments that the team has to stay together. We don't have any doubt at all about Kimi's performance and I'm pretty sure he will come back from here up to the end in Brazil."

He added: "When you're a driver, first of all you are really able to look inside and understand what things are going well and the things that are going wrong, and for sure, at this moment, we - because I want to stress and underline the fact that we - have to work together and understand how on our side we can improve and help.

"And I'm pretty sure that as I said before, once again, that he's totally committed and you will see up again in the end because he wants to show and we want to show that he's the world champion, believe me."

Domenicali also confessed the team are concerned about their reliability problems following two costly engine failures in the last two races.

"Well of course this is a problem that in this condition make us not sleep very well," he said. "If you don't arrive in races it is difficult in a championship that is so tight, and you lose points on the reliability to be up in both classifications.

"The only thing we can do is to work hard and try to understand what's the reason for these failures and work.

"That's the only thing we have to do and keep fighting because on the other side, we saw great performance of the car coming back and this is what we want.

"On one side we are still in the championship, on the other side the gap is there. We will push very very hard all the way to the end."
