Ferrari Pair Untouchable, Says Button

BAR's Jenson Button said that Ferrari were simply untouchable after he and teammate Takuma Sato raced to third and fourth places in the Italian Grand Prix.

The 11-point haul was enough to lift BAR into second place above Renault in the Constructors' Championship as the French team failed to score points for the second race in a row.

But while Button was delighted for his team he admitted that he had harboured hopes of wining the race before Ferrari duo Rubens Barrichello and Michael Schumacher came into their own.

"I didn't think the Ferrari's would be so strong towards the end of the race but their pace was unbelievable - untouchable," said Button, who recorded his eighth podium of the season. "All in all it was a fantastic race for us as a team.

"We moved ahead of Renault in the Constructors' Championship by two points and I would dedicate this result to the team. The car seems to run much better on lower fuel towards the end of the stints and that was when I was able to pull out a gap from Alonso and Montoya.

"I was pretty confident that we were on for a podium position at least. I thought we had the chance to win, but those two (Barrichello and Schumacher) were just too quick.

"I mean, we were nowhere near and to still have them in my sights at the end - obviously it's a very long straight here - but that was pretty special for us because we didn't expect that."
